WW1 SKETCHES OF MUIRHEAD BONE.

On the outbreak of the First World War the War Propaganda Bureau recruited Bone as Britain's first official war artist. He was appointed as an honorary second lieutenant and arrived in France during the Battle of the Somme.

These sketches illustrate the transport of wounded from the Battle of the Somme. They were published in 1917 in Muirhead Bone's book "The Western Front". The captions to the pictures are the original text from Muirhead Bone's "The Western Front".
