Beats In Kansas: The Beat Generation in the Heartland

The hours are not precious

From
the locked man

by Alan Russo, 1960
Wichita, Kansas

The hours are not precious.
They are wasted steadfastly and with care.
The day goes like a drop of blood,
the whole world round—
The more grooves to lose.
We are found listening at the doors of our tombs.
