MEDICAL HISTORY OF WW1:

CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHS AND SKETCHES

Muirhead Bone (1876-1953) trained initially as an architect and was appointed as Britain's first official war artist at the beginning of World War One. We are grateful to Mr Leslie Graham of London who provided these sketches of the transport of wounded during WW1. They come from Muirhead Bone's book, "The Western Front" published in 1917.

Bone, who was knighted in 1937 also served as a war artist during the Second World War.

CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHS OF MEDICAL OR AMBULANCE PERSONNEL
